Beyoncé's emotional reserve also allows for hits that still appeal to her core fan

Beyoncé new club banger, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," elaborates on "Irreplaceable's" theme of love as sport, if not war; sounding a lot like a Destiny's Child song, it has Beyoncé doing call-and-response with her backup singers over a rump-shaking beat provided by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. More than most female singers, Beyoncé understands the funky art of singing rhythmically, and this is a prime example.

The song's message is a tricky one: girlfriend's just split from her no-good man and is out celebrating with her crew. She's snaring a new man, but her old one is watching, and the song is directed to him.

"If you like it then you should have put a ring on it," goes the singsong hook, and eventually, the lyrics reveal that this is what the singer really wants: for her guy to make like a prince and grab her, delivering her to "a destiny, to infinity and beyond."

That's corny, and Beyoncé's not one for cheap sentiment. No matter what the bridge says, it's that chorus that wins the day, and it is a slap in the face of a man who's already blown it. Prince Charming is left standing there like the second lead in a romantic comedy, while Beyoncé lets her new guy -- and the beat, and those jumping background singers -- sweep her off her feet.

What's up with Vanessa Hudgens?

Yahooo! Our darling Vanessa Hudgens' practical Christmas wish (as she shared in USA Today) finally came true this week. Last week, the 18-year-old High School Musical actress passed her California driving written test at the DMV in Glendale, California. And last Monday, December 3, Vanessa Hudgens was spotted driving her parents' Toyota Camry in Los Angeles with mom, Gina. Yeeha! I wonder what car she'll buy..

Anyway, as for charity, V paid a visit to Ocean Drive Magazine to promote the charity program Best Buddies last November 29 in Miami Beach, Florida. Vanessa Hudgens shares, "Best Buddies is an amazing organization that helps support people with mental disabilities. Today, it actually puts them in jobs, which is why I'm here at Ocean Drive ... My manager is the person who actually developed it, and I found out about it and I thought it was an amazing organization. It's really neat to reach out to people who are, like, fans, too. Just to be able to be a part of their lives is really neat."

why we like Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis has shown us that there's way more to the Ukraine than vodka and communal farming. Her killer Russian looks are accompanied by a lethal sense of humor, as evidenced in her role as Jackie on That 70's Show (alright, maybe her role is evidence of the writers' wittiness, but she must have had some sense of delivery to win it). At 18 years old, Mila Kunis has plenty of time left to make an even stronger mark on Hollywood.

Mila Kunis has played the obnoxious, high-maintenance Jackie Burkhardt on the hit series That '70s Show since it premiered in 1998. She's also the voice of Meg on the animated sitcom, The Family Guy.

"If I Were a Boy" mines a very different mood, and in doing so, elevates Beyoncé's game even higher. This is her Streisand moment -- a tender, fairly simple ballad that Beyoncé uses to prove she's a great vocal actress.

Co-written by Toby Gad, a longtime ingenue supporter who gave Fergie her Song of the Year with "Big Girls Don't Cry," this tearjerker is circular in structure, its unending cadences suggesting that the problem B's addressing is eternal. This isn't just another breakup song; it's an elegy for female empowerment, Beyoncé's admission that no amount of money, fame or skill can solve the basic inequity between her man's heart and her own.

Hayden Panettiere Says Don't Expect Any DUIs or Rehab for Her

Hayden Panettiere's new skin-baring photo shoot comes equipped with a message that doesn't quite fit the steamy pictures -- the 'Heroes' starlet says she's "one of those boring girls."

Hayden Panettiere tells GQ magazine that while many may think she'll turn into the token Hollywood party girl, she won't give in to the vices of her industry.

Beyonce Knowles launch fashion line

Beyonce Knowles and Destiny's Child have launched a number of fashion trends. So it's not surprising that mother and daughter would launch their own line. They call it House of Dereon in honor of Tina's late mother, Agnez Dereon, who is their creative inspiration. From Mama Agnez comes the soul. Tina's influence is the couture. Beyonce says she added the kick.

"I'm excited about House of Dereon," says Beyonce Knowles. "It's been my dream and my mother's dream for a long time. So many opportunities have come, but I did not want to put my name on something I would not wear, that I was not a part of. We have put together a great team and I have input on every item that we are developing. I add my flavor-the kick-to it all.
