Mandy Moore has come a long way from the days she was a diminutive teenager driving a lime-green VW Bug on MTV and singing about missing her boyfriend like candy. Now, the veteran singer/actress is appealing to a more mature crowd, teaming with beverage company Crystal Light to launch a social networking site for her fellow women.
The site, uPumpItUp.com, is designed to promote female wellness by creating a support system to help visitors reach their chosen personal goals. Moore, 23, is one of five advisers who will contribute videos to the site challenging members to change their lives. So far, she has released four challenges: Do Something Daring, Find Kitchen Confidence, Photograph Your Life for a Month and [Get] Out on Your Own. Users are also encouraged to create their own challenges and report their progress.
Though Moore made her national debut as a pop singer in 1999, she is best known today for her acting roles, including star-heavy flicks American Dreamz, Because I Said So and License to Wed. She released her latest album last summer and is scheduled to appear in three films in 2008: Personal Shopping, Finding Jenua and A Summer Place.
