29 November 2010 - R&B star RIHANNA will never let fans see her cry in public because she refuses to show her vulnerable side when she's dealing with business.
The Umbrella hitmaker has become known for her feisty and "aggressive" persona since bouncing back from her beating at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in February 2009.
And the Bajan beauty insists on keeping her emotions under wraps while she's in the spotlight because she doesn't want to be seen as weak.
She tells Interview magazine, "I do have a vulnerable side. I think a lot of people have a misperception of me. They only see the tough, defensive, aggressive side. But every woman is vulnerable... I just don't like people to see me cry - I don't like to let them know when I'm bothered. You know? I just prefer it to be all about business."
Rihanna says her brief romance with rapper Drake didn't quite work out because she was still depressed about being assaulted by former lover Chris Brown when she met him.
The Umbrella singer dated the Canadian hip-hop star in May last year for a short while but admits she was too fragile emotionally after being assaulted just a few months earlier. "I definitely was attracted to Drake, but we didn't want to take it any further. It was at a really fragile time in my life. So, I just didn't want to get too serious with anyone at that time," says Rihanna.
And while the romance fizzled out soon after, the two have recently teamed up for new single What's My Name?, which sees them appear in the song's racy video together.

On November 21st, Rihanna opened this year’s 38th annual American Music Awards, broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Leading up to the album release, anticipation for LOUD was at fever pitch. Fans sent Tweet or Facebook posts via www.rihannanow.com/getloud for entry into the “get loud to hear LOUD” exclusive album stream event – and in the first 48 hours, the album received 400,000 listens. Additionally, the LOUDest Fan Sweepstakes, urging fans to upload their photos for entry and a chance to meet Rihanna, received over 1.3 million views in the first month online.

Rihanna made a noisy debut on the Canadian albums charts this week.
The R&B superstar's fifth studio effort, "Loud," came in at No. 1 based on sales of 27,000, according to numbers compiled by Neilsen SoundScan.
It easily surpassed the first week sales of last year's "Rated R" (17,000), and her mega-popular third disc "Good Girl Gone Bad," which also rang up 17,000 in June of 2007.
Rihanna bumped last week's top disc, Bon Jovi's "Greatest Hits," down to No. 2 with sales of 17,000.
The "Glee Christmas Album" (16,000) checked in at No. 3, while Josh Groban's "Illuminations" spent its first week at No. 4.
Susan Boyle's "The Gift" slipped from No. 3 to No. 5, Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" dropped four rungs to No. 6, and "MuchDance 2011" came down three to No. 7.

29 November 2010 - Pop superstar Rihanna – one of the many performers rumoured to be performing at next year’s Mardi Gras party – has added a second Sydney date to her 2011 Australian Tour.
The 22-year-old diva will now be spending two nights at Acer Arena – March 3 (sold out) and March 4.
She will be supported by DJ Calvin Harris and Far East Movement at both shows.

The "Hannah Montana" star-turned-budding-musician has a unique love for the furry creatures, and her fans across the globe have taken note.
"In Brazil, I was playing a concert and these six girls had on really cool panda costumes," said Osment in a phone interview from New York City. "It is a known fact that I love pandas, and I get stuffed pandas all the time.
"Let me know when buying pandas will become legal, and I will be the first one in line!"
The 18-year-old will probably collect a few more stuffed animals from her fans this weekend. Osment will host an autograph signing at Spotsylvania Towne Centre on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., including a 20-minute Q&A session at the end.
The event is sponsored by 93.3 WFLS and 99.3 The Vibe, and it is free to the public.
"[Osment] has a lot of appeal from her acting background, and her first album was released just a few weeks ago," said Justin Bryant, programming director for 99.3 The Vibe.
"It's exciting to have her here during this time in her career--she's an 18-year-old with the world at her fingertips."
Osment is most recognized for her role as Lilly Truscott, Miley Cyrus' best friend, on "Hannah Montana." For four seasons, Osment generated laughs from kids and adults alike thanks to her quirkiness and ingenuity.
The show wrapped up production of its final season in mid-May.
"It was the right show, with the right story, at the right time," said Osment. "Every parent wants their kids to watch something that is OK with them. It connected with people in a lot of different ways, and it was truthful to real life."
Now that playing Lilly Truscott is no longer an 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. job, Osment is focusing on her love for music.

Oh, my, if there was ever a bad day for Kathy Goff's car battery to go bad, it was late yesterday morning when "Hannah Montana" star Emily Osment was waiting at Spotsylvania Towne Centre.
Goff's job--one shared by thousands of other parents--was to ferry her 12-year-old daughter and two friends to see the young actress who plays the Lilly they love on the Disney Channel series.
Goff, of Stafford County, got the car going, but faced another delay--stalled traffic approaching the mall from every direction.
Things didn't get any better when they had to circle the parking lot, again and again, looking for a space.
Did they know the Budweiser Clydesdales were on one edge of the mall, that the new Harry Potter movie was playing at the Muvico theaters behind it, and Santa was holding forth as well in the center concourse?
No, all that was on the mind of Madison Goff and her two pals from Dixon Smith Elementary School, Lydia Samson and Lindsey Durant, was getting in to get their pictures taken with the attractive actress who plays the character they love to giggle with.
Had things gone the way they wanted, before that bad battery and other delays, they might have gotten to the mall by 11 or 12 and been in better shape.
As it was, getting there late put them in a line that wound its way from nearly one end of the mall to the other, with its tail stringing back out to the center concourse where St. Nick was holding forth.
"It's OK, we're going over to see her anyway," said young Madison as she and her young friends went to stand before a stage where people were snapping pictures with their cell phones. "She's really cool and we at least get to see her."
Though those three youngsters didn't get there in time to get photos snapped, mall officials estimated that close to 3,000 parents, daughters and the odd brother or two showed up for the event. For two hours, young girls got their pictures snapped with Osment, the younger sister of Academy Award-nominated actor Haley Joel Osment.
The event was sponsored by radio stations WFLS 93.3 and 99.3 The Vibe, which are owned and operated by The Free Lance-Star Publishing Co.
Ed Brennan of Wind Up Records, which just released Osment's album, "Fight of Flight," said he thought the Fredericksburg turnout was one of the largest the young star has generated anywhere.

After getting in a little family time back home in Los Angeles over the weekend, Ashley Tisdale packed up and caught a departing flight out of LAX Airport on Sunday (November 14).
The former "High School Musical" star looked cute as she trekked through the terminal while ready to board her plane bound for Vancouver.

Keeping up a busy schedule now that she's home from Vancouver, Ashley Tisdale started off the day with a java pick-me-up at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Toluca Lake on Saturday (November 13).
Dressed in loungewear, the "Aliens In the Attic" actress then headed back home to get changed before meeting up with her manager for a bite to eat at Marmalade Cafe.

I am glad that they have taken at least one former High School Musical character and carried on their story. Too bad, that they have not done it with the rest of the cast, but I suppose that maybe the rest of them are sick of high school. Hermès hosted a large party for the opening of their new store in Paris and invited Salma Hayek.
Normally this wouldn’t mean anything, since Hayek gets invited to lots of fancy, stylish parties, but in this case it does because she’s the wife of François-Henri Pinault, the owner of luxury holding company PPR, who famously thwarted LVMH’s attempted takeover of Gucci in 1999 and is widely viewed as LVMH’s main competitor in the international luxury business.
Ever since LVMH sneakily purchased 17.1 percent of Hermès’s stocks last month and seemed poised for a hostile takeover, the Hermès family has loudly protested their presence, accusing LVMH of not being “friendly” and demanding their withdrawal from the family-owned company.
Of course, no one at the party would admit that Hayek was being used as a busty, Gucci-clad pawn in Hermès’s anti-LVMH campaign, particularly Hayek herself. "I don't know about investment; I know about shopping," she told WWD coyly. Hermès CEO Patrick Thomas, who posed for lots of pictures with Hayek, insisted that there was “no message” about her being there, but WWD seemed to detect some sarcasm from Bertrand Peuch when he “deadpanned” that she was just a guest.
The store itself is Hermès’s second largest in the world; located in a former swimming pool on Paris’s left bank, it features a florist, a small bookstore, and a tea room, as well as three huts carved from ash wood that are “reminiscent of nomadic tents” and house typical Hermès gear like fancy saddles, leather bags, watches, and scarves.
On yet another addition to his international body of work, actor Gulshan Grover will now be seen romancing Salma Hayek in an upcoming Hollywood project called The Driver. And to top it all, Hayek, a Mexican by origin, will be seen playing an Indian for a change. “She plays my wife and an Indian in the film,” says Grover, who will play the lead role in this film, which is to be directed by filmmaker-actor Bill Duke. “Till now only Indian actors like Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Diana Hayden have played Indian wives to me.”
A few days before Grover was approached for the role in The Driver, he was in Los Angeles for a charity event, where his Indian fans spotted him. “They were chasing me for autographs and pictures,” says Grover, who was surprised to see all the frenzy around him. “There was a strange curiosity among the people who were in the midst of this situation.”
Salma HayekIt was then that director Bill Duke, who was present in the same gathering, began asking who Grover was. “He must have made up his mind then. We met a few days ago and he told me he wanted me to play the lead. He also said that he was aware of my work and popularity in India as a villain,” says Grover, who was pleasantly surprised to hear that.
Apart from Whoopie Goldberg and Janet Jackson, the film will see a lot of comedians, celebrities, Hollywood stars and sports people making special appearances. Even though he does not disclose the purpose of the cameos, he does say that the script demands it. “All I can say is that I play the role of an accountant, an average man, who at one point decides to pursue and follow his dream. Salma, who plays the role of my wife, plays a crucial part in helping him make his wishes come true. It is on his journey to fulfilling his dreams that he encounters all these big people.”
Even though Grover has worked in numerous film industries in the US, France, Italy, Germany, UK and Canada, this role is something he is really looking forward to. “Bill is a very respected filmmaker and I am really excited about this project.”
