Ashley Tisdale to Be a Hellcat

With those High School Musical days behind her, Ashley Tisdale is taking the next step in what will likely be a long and successful career by signing on to star in the CW pilot Hellcats.

	Hellcats stars Aly Michalka (Phil of the Future) as Marti, a college student who joins the school's competitive cheerleading team (the Hellcats) after losing her scholarship. Tisdale will play Sierra, the Hellcat's captain and Marti's roommate. The series also stars Gail O'Grady as Marti's irresponsible mother. Tom Welling (Smallville) will serve as executive producer and Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives) is penning the pilot. Reports from The Hollywood Reporter is that the actress has signed on to co-star as a peppy and fiercely intense captain of the Hellcats.

Tisdale will play Sierra, who comes to realise that the lead character Marti, a college girl from the wrong side of the tracks, is the Hellcats' ticket to winning the cheerleading championship.
