Scarlett Johansson, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta Jones are among the big names up for Tony Awards for their Broadway performances this year, it was announced Tuesday morning.
Johansson is up for Best Actress for A View From the Bridge. Her co-star Liev Schreiber is nominated for Best Actor. He'll go up against Jude Law and Denzel Washington, who appear in Hamlet and Fences respectively. Kelsey Grammar earned a nod for lead actor in a musical for La Cage aux Folles. Zeta-Jones was nominated for best performance by a leading actress in a musical for A Little Night Music. (She won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2003 for her role in Chicago, which was adapted to the big screen from Broadway.)"What a thrill to be nominated!" she said. Green Day's American Idiot earned a best musical nomination. It will compete against Memphis, Million Dollar Quartet and Fela! at the June 13 show, broadcast on CBS from Radio City Music Hall.
