’80s rock group, teen star added to festival lineup

Teen star Emily Osment and 1980s rock group 38 Special have been added to this year’s Corn Palace Festival entertainment lineup, city of Mitchell officials announced this morning.

38 Special is scheduled to perform Friday, Aug. 26. Osment is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 28.

38 Special is best known for hits such as “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up In You,” “Second Chance,” “Rockin’ Into The Night” and “Back Where You Belong.” The group also contributed the song “Back To Paradise” to the soundtrack for the movie “Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise.”
Osment is known for playing Lily Truscott on the Disney Channel’s Emmy-nominated series “Hannah Montana,” and for playing Geri Giggles in the “Spy Kids” movies. The 18-year-old recently released her debut album, “Fight or Flight.”

Ticket prices are $30 for 38 Special and $25 for Osment. Tickets for both acts will go on sale Saturday, April 9. Tickets for other acts are currently available at www.cornpalace.com.

Other performers already announced for the festival include country-music legend Loretta Lynn, who will take the stage Tuesday, Aug. 23; contemporary country star Josh Turner, Wednesday, Aug. 24, with opening act The Band Perry; and the Happy Together Tour, Saturday, Aug. 27. The Happy Together Tour features several 1960s pop stars, including the Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie, the Association, the Grass Roots, the Buckinghams, and Mark Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders.
