Katy Perry has flown to her husband Russell Brand's side in New York after his performance in the re-make of the Dudley Moore classic, Arthur was widely panned by film critics.
Katy flew out from Glasgow where she is currently performing on her California Dreams world tour and the pair were spotted walking into a hotel in the city after Russell picked her up from the hotel.
Russell had walked the red carpet of the film's première on his own earlier this week and Katy tweeted her husband of five-months, writing: “I can't wait to see you... As #ARTHUR! @rustyrockets hope it's all going amazing!,”But things haven't be going 'amazing' for the 35-year-old comedian as his role in the movie has come under fire with critics suggesting the movie will be the “nail in the coffin” of his acting career.
Film critic Marshall Fine wrote a scathing review for the Huffington Post which said: “If anything, this movie should put a nail in the coffin of Russell Brand's career as a movie comic because, well, the guy's just not that funny.
“Particularly not when he assays an entire role in that high, whiny, little-boy voice that he uses here.”
He added: “I've seen him do stand-up and that didn't make me laugh. He's really only amusing in small doses.”
The harsh criticism will come as a blow to Russell who was a great fan of Dudley Moore. Let's hope Katy is making him feel better.
