Selena Gomez 'urges support for Haiti'

Selena Gomez has called on her fans to donate to a UNICEF fund that has been established to assist recovery efforts in Haiti.

In early 2010, the island nation was struck by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, which led to thousands of Haitians losing their homes.

In a video posted on her official YouTube page, Gomez insisted that more financial aid is needed now because the country's humanitarian crisis is ongoing."I want to remind everyone that Haiti still needs our help," she said.

She continued: "While I thank each and every one of you for coming together one year ago for the Hope for Haiti Now telethon where we raised $66m (£42m), unfortunately, when rebuilding an entire nation the money goes fast and Haiti still needs our help."

UNICEF's 'Haiti365' fund is seeking to raise more than $127m (£81m) by the end of the year in order to assist those who have been displaced from their homes in the wake of last year's natural disaster.
