February 28, 2011 - Today, Katy Perry gave the Oprah Oscars Special a big surprise: It was the singer herself.
Apparently, the queen of talk called the pop princess, requesting her presence on her show on the day following the Oscars. The rub? Katy Perry was in Vienna on Sunday, performing.
But that didn't stop this intrepid traveler. Rather, she just hopped on a red eye and arrived in Los Angeles very early on Monday morning, just in time to jump into a fantastic gold gown (very Oscar friendly!) and appeared on the Oprah show.Another surprise happened when Katy Perry appeared, which happened in the last minutes of the one-hour show. The PS 22 chorus who had sung on the Oscars were on that same stage with Oprah to sing their favorite song, Firework.
Yes, that Firework, the same song Katy Perry wrote. So, when the kids started singing all of a sudden a huge curtain opened to reveal the super star. And she was as thrilled to be there as the singing children were to see her there before them.
For sure, this was an Oprah-style "ah hah" moment for the kids who came to Hollywood from Staten Island to sing. Little did they know they'd meet the author of the song they picked: Katy Perry, there on Oprah, on time, as she made the special effort to fly all the way back from Vienna all night long just to be there.
